At Henry’s we believe in sport for all, from those students playing in the ‘E’ team for rugby to those with Sports Scholarships on specialist sports programs preparing for competition in national and international events in their respective sports.
For all boys and girls within the school there is a wealth of team sporting activities, including rugby, hockey, cricket, netball and athletics. In addition we also offer choices such as volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, tennis, table tennis, badminton, rock climbing, golf, rounders, squash, orienteering, dance, health-related fitness, and step-aerobics.
Whilst competing for the school offers a high level of skilled, competitive game time, the House system also allows for enthusiasts to compete at a more accessible, but equally competitive, level.
We use schoolsport to keep our families updated on fixtures, team selection and you can click on this link to follow the progress of different teams in their respective sports.
Our first class facilities include rugby and hockey pitches, tennis and netball courts, excellent cricket squares and provision for athletics. The sports hall, built at a cost of £1.4 million, includes a sprung floor for dance and gymnastics and also a climbing wall. The six-lane 25-metre swimming pool is one of the finest school pools in the country. The double astroturf pitch was re-laid in 2015 and provides a superb venue for hockey.
Enthusiasts in several sports have enjoyed the experience of taking part in recent team tours to France, Canada, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Our 2023 senior sports tour to South Africa saw us take a touring party of 100, competing in Hockey, Rugby and Netball against local schools and taking part in a cultural excursions, it really was a trip of a lifetime!
