After a record breaking season in 2023, becoming UK triple crown winners and the most successful UK team ever at the world finals, King Henry VIII School robotics teams have continued their success into 2024!
Having initially decided to ‘retire’ following their world championship adventure last year, 1408F ‘Floppy‘ found the pull too great and made a late entry to this season’s senior robotics game, OverUnder. Not only did the team go on to qualify for the UK National Finals, held last week in Telford, but they were once again victorious, becoming tournament and UK Champions for a second year running! As the majority of the team are in Year 13, with A-level examinations imminent, sadly they will not be heading to the World Championships in Dallas this time round… However, no doubt inspired by their older schoolmates, Year 8 team 1408R, ‘Revolution‘, are planning to travel to the States at the end of April having won the UK Junior Championships just a couple of days after Floppy. This incredible achievement sees King Henry VIII School as UK Champions at both senior and junior level for the first time!
Revolution, consisting of Vihaan, Robbie, Monty, Joshua and Sid, are in only their second season of robotics and will spend three days competing with over 400 of the best teams from across the globe in robotic building, driving and programming in this season’s game, FullVolume.
The team are keen to hear from potential sponsors to assist with competition entry and robot shipping fees. Please forward any enquiries to RJP@csfoundation.org.uk
