GCSE Results – Best in 10 years!
King Henry’s jubilant over best in a decade results
King Henry VIII School is celebrating its best GCSE results in external exams for 10 years.
More than one-quarter of entries were awarded the highest possible grade 9, and 67% of grades were 7-9s.
Delighted headmaster Philip Dearden said: “This is an incredible achievement and our pupils have done themselves and our school proud.
“We shouldn’t forget that these pupils had their secondary education considerably disrupted by Covid and lockdowns, so it is a great testament to them, and to the pastoral care provided by our staff team, that they have been able to deliver these results regardless.”
Three pupils achieved an astonishing 11 grade 9s, and three achieved 10 grade 9s.
Music students can certainly blow their own trumpet, with more than half of them gaining a grade 9, while one-third of English students penned top grade papers.
Mr Dearden paid tribute to “a fabulous group of young people with incredible humility and enthusiasm for learning”.
