Welcome to Year 7
Congratulations on achieving a place in Year 7 at King Henry’s for September 2020! We are really looking forward to getting to know you better and welcoming you into our family. We know how daunting it can be making that step up from primary school, that’s why we’ve got lots of exciting opportunities for you to learn more about the school, make some new friends and meet our fab teachers ahead of starting in September.
‘Up and About’ – FULLY BOOKED
Get active and sporty with our Games and Outdoor Education Teams
Saturday 15th February – 9.00am – 12.00pm
This is a great morning to make some new friends whilst participating in sport. Can you complete the traverse on our climbing wall in record time or will you learn to refine your shooting technique in netball, rugby or hockey with one of our elite level coaches?
Day in the Life of A Year 7 – FULLY BOOKED
A Taster Day is a brilliant way to get to know our school and experience a day in the life of one of our students. We give you a Year 7 Buddy who will look after you for the day, take you for a scrummy lunch and get you to participate in one of the many amazing co-curricular activities we have on offer, from Robotics to Music, from Netball to Rock Climbing.

Our Year 7 Activities Team
Director of Music
Mr Robin Newton
Mr Newton, a scholar of Gonville and Caius College Cambridge and a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, spent the early part of his career as a freelance conductor. He has conducted some of the best opera companies and orchestras in the world, including Welsh National Opera, Bergen National Opera, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra to name a few! He now transmits his infectious enthusiasm for Music to our students!
Head of Art
Miss Sarah Mould
Miss Mould has been leading the Art & Design Department at Henry’s for over seventeen years. She studied her degree in Fashion Textile Design at the Institute of Art & Design in Birmingham. Miss Mould worked in the field of Interior Design & Architecture for a number of years before entering the teaching profession. Her wider interests in the visual arts have led to consultation on arts events and exhibitions.
Head of Drama
Miss Gracey Spring
Miss Spring has been Head of Drama at KHVIII School for seven years. She has a degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies from Warwick University, and is heavily involved in the development of performing arts nationally and locally as an active member of NISDA (National Independent Schools’ Drama Association). She also trained as a performer with Watford Palace Youth Theatre, the National Youth Theatre and British Youth Music Theatre and is an avid theatregoer and performer, having played a number of roles such as Elle in ‘Legally Blonde’ The Wicked Queen in ‘Snow White’ and Eliza Doolittle in ‘My Fair Lady’.
Director of Sport
Mr Jon Fitt
Mr Fitt, Director of Sport at King Henry VIII has a student international rugby and cricket pedigree, which has allowed passion and knowledge to be imbedded within all teams at KHVIII. He is also Head of Talent ID and an elite rugby academy coach with Wasps RFC, so is able to see beyond the current and look at the future athlete inside as King Henrys offers an environment to grow, nurture and develop. He pioneered the introduction of the S&C Healthy Wellbeing Programme at Henry’s and has extensive experience of international school sports tours.
Director of Outdoor Education
Mrs Jo Jones
Mrs. Jones is an experienced mountaineer, qualified Mountain Leader and a teacher and leader of Outdoor Education and DofE, who has been Director of Outdoor Education & DofE Manager at King Henry’s for the past few years. She has led many expeditions and trips in the UK and abroad and she has a passion for educating our young people and inspiring them to aspire in life and the outdoors. INSPIRE-ASPIRE!
