Classrooms
Our classrooms are vibrant, welcoming spaces where happiness, curiosity and a love for learning thrive. Each room is thoughtfully designed to inspire creativity and engagement, and is equipped with modern, interactive smart boards to enhance the learning experience.
We also offer a range of specialised facilities, including a multi-purpose hall, music room and gymnasium. These versatile spaces support a variety of activities such as drama, music, physical education and school assemblies.
Art, Design and Technology
We are committed to nurturing artistic development in every child. Through dedicated art lessons, pupils are encouraged to explore their creativity and express themselves using a wide variety of artistic media.
Our art curriculum focuses on building essential skills, introducing pupils to different techniques and teaching them how to use art tools and materials safely and effectively. This structured yet inspiring approach helps foster confidence, imagination and a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts.
Outdoor Learning and Forest School
We believe that outdoor learning is a vital part of a well-rounded education and are proud to offer thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that support exploration, creativity and physical development in a safe and stimulating environment.
Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) children benefit from secure, covered outdoor areas that are accessible throughout the day. These spaces are purposefully designed to extend classroom learning into the natural world, encouraging play-based exploration, imaginative role play and sensory experiences. Activities are planned to support all areas of the EYFS curriculum, with a strong emphasis on developing communication, physical coordination and social skills.
For our Key Stage 1 pupils, outdoor learning opportunities are integrated into the wider curriculum. Our well-equipped outdoor spaces allow children to engage in activities that enhance their understanding of subjects such as science, geography and art, while also promoting teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Forest School
We are proud to offer a dedicated Forest School area, which provides a unique, hands-on learning experience in a woodland environment. Forest School sessions are timetabled weekly and led by a qualified Forest School practitioner. These sessions are designed to build resilience, independence and confidence through activities such as den building, nature exploration, tool use and outdoor crafts.
- EYFS Forest School Sessions: These sessions take place once a week and focus on sensory exploration, storytelling and simple nature-based activities that nurture curiosity and a connection to the outdoors.
- KS1 Forest School Sessions: Older children enjoy more structured activities that introduce basic bushcraft skills, teamwork challenges and ecological learning, fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world.
Library
The library plays a central role in our teaching and learning, acting as both a resource hub and a quiet retreat for exploration and discovery. Classes make regular visits to the library for storytelling sessions, guided reading, book borrowing and literacy-focused activities. It is also a space where children are encouraged to choose books independently, helping to build confidence and ownership in their reading choices.
Sport
We are committed to giving every child the best possible start in sport and physical development. Our PE curriculum is designed to be inclusive, enjoyable and enriching, with a focus on building fundamental movement skills that support a healthy, active lifestyle.
We offer a wide range of exciting, game-based activities that help children develop essential physical skills such as throwing, catching, aiming, kicking, jumping and dodging. These activities promote coordination, balance and teamwork, and are delivered in a supportive environment where all children are encouraged to participate and thrive.
Our pupils benefit from excellent onsite facilities, including spacious playing fields and a dedicated tennis court, which provide ample space for outdoor sports and physical activities.
Swimming
Swimming is a highlight of the curriculum at King Henry VIII Pre-Prep. We are fortunate to have our very own indoor swimming pool on site, enabling children to enjoy regular lessons from a young age. Taught by qualified swimming instructors, the programme focuses on water confidence, stroke development and essential water safety skills.
