Henry’s Come Dancing

On the evening of the competition, anticipation gave way to thunderous applause as Henry’s Come Dancing made its dazzling debut in what proved to be a truly spectacular sell-out event. The school hall was transformed into a glittering ballroom, packed to capacity with staff, pupils and families eager to see a very different side of their teachers. From elegant Waltzes to high-energy Sambas and Cha Cha Chas, each performance showcased not only impressive footwork but also confidence, creativity and a great sense of fun.
The audience played a huge part in the evening’s success, cheering, clapping and laughing along with the contestants from start to finish. Months of dedication were evident as staff dancers took to the floor, fully embracing the challenge and stepping well outside their comfort zones. The variety of routines and personalities on display kept the energy high throughout the night, making the judges’ task an unenviable one.
A huge part of the evening’s success was thanks to Upper Sixth student Lauren, whose expert coaching and encouragement shone through in every routine. Her ability to balance her role as Head of School alongside her academic commitments while leading such an ambitious project was nothing short of remarkable, and the confidence and polish of the dancers was a true testament to her patience, skill and passion for dance.
As the judges’ scores were revealed, it became clear that the competition was too close to call. With the votes tied, the audience was treated to a tense and thrilling dance-off, as the leading couples returned to the floor one final time to battle it out for the title. The atmosphere was electric as cheers filled the hall and every step counted.
Only then, after a dramatic drum roll, could the winners be announced. To rapturous applause, Mr Owen and Mr Raffle were crowned the inaugural champions of Henry’s Come Dancing, bringing the evening to an unforgettable close.
Beyond the sparkle and entertainment, Henry’s Come Dancing achieved something even more meaningful by raising vital support for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice. The generosity shown by everyone who attended, donated and supported the event reflects the strong sense of community at King Henry’s. We are incredibly proud to have combined teamwork and creativity in aid of such an important cause, and we hope this unforgettable evening will be the first of many.
