When Arniya moved up to Sixth Form at King Henry VIII School, she never imagined how much it would help her grow. Following her A Level results, she is now preparing to study Criminology at the University of Nottingham and believes that her time in Sixth Form played a huge role in helping her reach this goal.

In the lower school, Arniya often found learning challenging and sometimes struggled to express what she knew and understood. Moving into Sixth Form gave her a fresh start. Studying three new subjects allowed her to play to her strengths, particularly essay writing, and she quickly discovered a passion for Law.

“Law really sparked my interest,” said Arniya. “It gave me confidence because it was a subject that suited the way I learn and think.”

The Sixth Form environment was a major factor in her success. The combination of dedicated study periods, greater independence and strong support helped take responsibility for her own learning.

“The structure with freedom really helped me focus,” she explained. “Working with other students, especially those with higher ambitions, really pulled me along.”

Support from the Sixth Form Learning Mentor helped Arniya improve her organisation and note-taking, while smaller class sizes meant she felt known and supported by her teachers.

“The smaller classes made me feel heard,” she said.

Beyond her studies, Arniya embraced Sixth Form life as a Senior Prefect, House Captain and committed sportswoman. The dedicated Sixth Form Centre space helped her feel valued and encouraged her to make the most of every opportunity available to her.

Arniya’s story is a powerful example of what can be achieved when students embrace the wealth of opportunities available at King Henry VIII School. Through hard work, determination and a willingness to get involved, she has become the epitome of a Henry’s student: ambitious, engaged, supportive of others and ready to make a success of the next exciting chapter of her life.
