Prep School Admissions
King Henry VIII Preparatory School is a feeder school for King Henry VIII (11-18) School and therefore tries to ensure that each child offered a place will meet the academic standard to be successful at the senior school.
Our Admissions Team will also be happy to help you with any questions you may have about King Henry’s Prep School. You would be most welcome to one of our open days or events, or call us and arrange a visit to suit you.
The main points of entry to King Henry VIII Preparatory School are at the ages of 3, 4 or 7. Children may gain admission to the school at other ages subject to there being vacancies in specific year groups.

Nursery and Reception
The school is not academically selective for children joining in these years. However, all children must show a good level of competency for their age in spoken English and have sufficient independence to meet their personal needs during the school day.
Years 1 and 2
Children joining the school in Years 1 and 2 will be assessed, as to the suitability of King Henry VIII Preparatory School for them, during individual ‘taster days’.
Year 3 to 6 – Key Stage 2
Children joining the school from Year 3 onwards are required to be assessed more formally by way of an Entrance Assessment. This will take place in February 2021 (tbc) for entry in September 2021 and applications should be received by the end of January 2021.
Entry will be by assessments in English, Maths and Reasoning. We will also contact your child’s current school to request further information about their progress to date.
We welcome applicants at any time from boys and girls aged 3 to 11 years old.
